Social Entrepreneurship Project in Vietnam - As I write this blog post, my

Program Summary:
ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INNOVATION are a major focus of the Nova Scotia Community College. As part of this work we are presenting the fifth year of this exciting program opportunity!
In this program, NSCC students will partner with students from Tra Vinh University (TVU) in Vietnam on business ideas that would promote entrepreneurship in the Mekong Delta region of Southern Vietnam. During the time abroad, students will interview entrepreneurs in the community, conduct site visits and develop business ideas or improvements that could be implemented. Prior research as to what types of entrepreneurship ventures could be successful in the region will assist in the project work.
This program will be for two weeks in June 2020.

This program is open to ALL NSCC STUDENTS with a passion for entrepreneurship!
About Tra Vinh, Vietnam and Tra Vinh University
Tra Vinh is located in the Mekong Delta region, which is in the Southern part of Vietnam. The city has many famous Khmer pagodas, due to the large number of Khmer Krom, Cambodian people there. Under the Republic of Vietnam, it was the provincial capital of a province with a population of 51,535. The name of the city in Khmer is Preah Trapeang
Currently, Tra Vinh University has more than 40 operational Units, including 12 Schools of: Agriculture and Aquaculture; Applied Chemistry; Basic Sciences; Economics and Law; Education; Engineering Technology; Foreign Languages; Health Sciences; Southern Khmer Language, Culture and Art; Office Administration, Vietnamese Study and Library; and Pre-University.
NSCC has been working with Tra Vinh University for several years now with NSCC employees doing volunteer placements throught the Leave for Change program.

Application Requirements:
Students should complete their application on or before November 22, 2019. Following interviews with shortlisted candidates, students will be notified in the second half of November if they are accepted to participate in this program. After receiving approval students will be given a payment schedule and will be expected to pay a $500 deposit as their first payment in January. At this time a learning contract will also be distributed to be signed by students and faculty outlining roles and responsibilities.

Those who are interviewed but not selected may have the opportunity to be placed on a wait-list until all deposits are received.
Program Cost:
The approximate costs associated with this program are outlined below. The exact costs will be confirmed by NSCC and TVU and will depend on the Vietnamese Dong exchange rate. The following costs will be included in your Program Fee payable to Nova Scotia Community College.

Participants are responsible for the costs of their passport & passport photos, immunizations and prescriptions, travel health insurance through guard.me, entry visa ($100), meals and any additional expenses not outlined in the Program Fee.
Student Bursary
Students will have the opportunity to receive a bursary of up to $500 from NSCC International (made possible through the NSCC Foundation and NSCC International’s externally funded Projects) to participate in the program. Details will be sent to those selected to participate in the program.
Withdrawal:
Students who withdraw from this program after they have confirmed their participation will forfeit their deposit.
