Donnie MacDonald’s BlogTanzania

ISTEP Arusha, Tanzania – I recently travelled to Arusha, Tanzania in East Africa participating in a labour market study as phase two of a partnership project between NSCC International and the Vocational Education and Training Authority in Tanzania.  This was my first experience working internationally.  While reflecting back on the experiences had it is by far, without a doubt, the most meaningful work I have been a part of in my 20 year working career to date.

Many of us strive to do the best we can and be the best we can be to make a difference for those serviced by our work, regardless of the industry or profession we are in or hold.  My Tanzanian experience has brought that notion to a new level.  The collaboration between NSCC and VETA is striving to create a world class learning platform to educate and train Tanzanian’s to self sustain their world class destination offerings and essentially enhance an economy supported and sustained by Tanzanians.  Education that leads those to meaningful careers is a clear solution to ensure a better life for many, particularly in East Africa.  It is those reasons mentioned that humble me and force me to realize meaningful work is very contagious… leaving me desiring more.  There is no question the opportunity to travel is amazing, however having the opportunity and ability to help educate and make a difference in so many lives is the real feather in one’s cap.

Respectively Submitted,
