This trip has been an eye-opening experience for me. Being my first time traveling outside of North America, I am thankful to have been given this opportunity. Visiting numerous industry leaders, facilitators, and regulators has given me more knowledge then I could ever learn in a classroom. Before coming here my opinion was similar to what the majority of people thought when they hear the Cayman Islands being spoke about. I feel lucky to be able to say, it is nothing like how it is spoken about and portrayed in popular culture. This island relies heavily of revenues generated in the hedge-fund industry and they take pride in the work they are doing.

Working at a large Canadian bank back home, where we have one of the most well-regulated and run finance systems in the world, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the systems here are comparable and, in many cases, more extensive. If the Caymans was recognized for the quality of work being conducted, more people would understand why this is one the top financial hubs globally.
