Pacific Alliance Project in Peru – Views from Peru: anuary 24th through February 1st NSCC and BCIT travelled to Instituto Honorio Delgado Espinoza in Arequipa, Peru. My part in the B.07 Peru Project Mission to provide support to the local partner and visiting Colleges in the area of Student Services; it’s development, purpose and maintenance. I taught through the lens of the importance of well-being of the student, staff and the community.

Visiting Arequipa reminded me of the important lesson that the desire to learn transcends age, time, location and altitude. Our partners were gracious learners, willing to take chances and live and laugh with us a while. Raw and elegant beauty can be found in surprising places and it all is part of us – if we take a moment to see and share. As is often the case while facilitating, I learned more that I shared. The willingness and deep need to assist students on their journey is truly the greatest resource we, as post-secondary instructors and administrators, have or may ever need.
