International Tourism in Belize – Day 5
7:30am – Dailey Apples and Onions meeting
8:00am – Breakfast Time – We had delicious banana pancakes, bacon, eggs and mixed tropical fruit.
9:30am – Tour of the Dive Resort (Isla Marisol) on the other side of the island. It’s a lovely place with a much different vibe then the Island Expeditions side. Not a bad vibe, just different. It was interesting to see how they keep the island running and how they get their water and energy. I loved that everything we talked about in Environmental Stewardship in first year we could see in action on the island and throughout Belize. It makes you think that if a classified third world country can do environmentally friendly work and experience practices why can’t a country like Canada be more ahead of the game.
12:30pm – Lunch
2:15pm – Fishing! Butch took us drop line fishing and trolling for the afternoon. I caught many fish but only could keep four of them as the rest were. Everyone on the boat caught at least one fish.
Fish that we were catching were:
Squirrel Fish
Lane Snapper
Porgy
Red Hind
Two various kinds of Grunt fish – white and Spanish
Sane Tile
Catching these fish was exciting and something I’ve never done before, I enjoyed fishing so much I joined the group again the next day to continue my fishing adventure.
Cheers,
