As an international student from the small and beautiful Caribbean country of Dominica, coming to Canada to study has been a totally different experience. Being in Canada is wonderful. However, there are a few adjustments to be made. Those of which include, adjustments to food type, food preparation, the cold atmosphere, and the bus system.

In addition, as a Tourism Student at the Akerley Campus, it is a wonderful experience to participate in tourism related activities within the Tourism Industry where I receive the opportunity to broaden my knowledge, meet hospitable people, and network.

Furthermore, participating in this program will allow me to be more employable by putting whatever it is that I have learnt into the world of work and in the society on a whole. From a hospitable and professional faculty, some of the skills that I have developed, are a few employability skills such as: communication skills, teamwork skills, and presentation skills which will fuel my self- confidence.

All in all, being in Nova Scotia, Canada is a wonderful experience. I  get to meet wonderful people, learn new things, and be adaptable to changes.
