I am from the island of Barbados, so I was a wide-eyed child when I step off the plane In Halifax. I was mesmerized, from the start of my trip from Halifax to Yarmouth. I found Nova Scotia to be such a beautiful place I will cherish my memories of traveling through Annapolis Valley, Digby and Shelburne. My arrival in Yarmouth city will be remembered forever, the quit sea side town, wrapped in a blanket of white mist. Yarmouth city as picture perfect as one could expect it to be.

Yarmouth city was my ultimate destination and my purpose was to be student at NSCC Burridge Campus.  Being an international scholarship student, I was placed with a home stay family. The Nickerson’s are a terrific family and welcomed me into their home with open arms. The welcome received there spilled over into my time at Burridge campus and is typical of all Nova Scotians met during my time here.

I was introduced to traditional Acadian dishes such as Rappie pie (still acquiring a taste for it) as well as the world-famous Digby scallops.  Over all my experience with Nova Scotian culture has been a unique and enjoyable one.

Last and by no means least, I want to talk about my time spend at Burridge Campus. I have made, what I hope will be lasting friendships among the students as well as members         of faculty. The courses were engaging, challenging and fulfilling. The knowledge and hands-on training I received, will take me one step closer to achieving my career goals.
Nova Scotia has become like a second home to mean and has left an indelible mark on my life. Goodbye for now Nova Scotia, till we meet again.
